I never really played Red Alert 1 much, mainly RA2 and Retaliation which was on PlayStation. I enjoyed the futuristic world of Dawn and Twilight.
To me this wasn't really something I wanted to see in a C&C game. Simply put, it had a lot of influence for terrorism due to 9/11. I do find it was a decent idea trying to start another C&C universe, but Generals was based more in the modern world. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate Generals and a lot of people love it.
